MATCH REPORT 14/9/08

Freethorpe started their first game in Div 1 the same way they
normally start a season ie 10 men , only this time they had no
goalkeeper so well done to Tom Charles for stepping in. Add to this one
of the lads was off injured almost straight away and it was a game of
keep the score down!

This meant that Gorleston were left to play the football while
Freethorpe had to try and catch them on the break with the big boot!
The end result was a 5-1 defeat so well done to all the boys who never
gave up and never stopped running. Freethorpe Scorer N Howard

Freethorpe U15 v Caister 28/9/08

This week Freethorpe started with nine players (one injured!) and had
a tenth roll up after 20 mins , so done well to win 3-0 at Caister.
Well done to J.Dent for staying on the pitch the whole game , well done
to Dan for playing in goal , well done to Tyler for your goal , and
well done all the boys for wanting to keep the team going and play in
the first div! how long we can last like this who Knows?

On the plus side we should now have a goalkeper on the minus side we
have lost a player who would rather play for a team in the Norwich
league so he win win 10-0 every week!

Freethorpe U15 V Waveney A 12/10/2008

Starting with 8 this week and 9 once Mark arrived ( comminted enough
to rush 30 miles to get there after 20 mins having done another sport
in the morning) Freethorpe put on a fantasic performance and can
consider themselfs very unlucky not to have got at least a point from
the game. Though riding their luck a bit in the first half Freethorpe
were 2-0 up at the break , after the rest however it took a while for
their legs to get going and the score was soon 2-2. Just when you would
have though the floodgates would have opened Freethorpe came back into
the game but despite hitting the crossbar and having three one on ones
failed to score. Waveney also failed to take their chances but won the
game with a shot from distance hence the score was freethorpe 2 Waveney
3. A super performance from all the boys scorers were T .Charles and
Dan.

Freethorpe U15 V Halesworth 19/10/2008

This week the boys again only had 9 men so the aim was simple , keep
the score below 10 and this they achived losing 7-0 to a good
Halesworth side. Another fantasic effort by the boys.

Freethorpe under 15s V Pakefield B 9/11/2008

This week playing with 10 the boys got there first point of the
season playing against pakfield B. Freethorpe played with the wind in
the first half and took the lead via D Mcgarth on half time. In the
second Pakfield scored two and it looked like the ten were running out
of steam when J Green popped up with a cracking finish. Yet another
great effort.

Freethorpe U15 V Shrublands 16/11/2008

Playing with 11 for the first time this season the boys were simply
awful.

Only james and three outfield players turned up enough said , well
done to Shrublands for taken full advantage.

MATCH REPORT 16/9/07

Freethorpe U14's began their season with a win over Kirkley and Pakefield B in the preliminary round of the Cup. The boys played extremely well considering we only had the bare eleven players. If it had not been for Bradley Owen stepping in at the very last minute, from the U13's, we would have been without a goalkeeper. After a goaless first half Freethorpe took the lead through Dan from a free kick, only for Pakefield to equalise with only twenty seconds before full time. Then with no goals in extra time it was down to penalties. Freethorpe scored all five and with Pakefield scoring their first four, sudden death penalties looked inevitable until Bradley pulled off an excellent save to put us through. Huge thanks go to Bradley and his parents for helping us out. All in all a great game by all, played in the right way, very good spirited and well supported. Thanks go to the referee. The team was Bradley, Tom M, Dan, Dominic, Sam, Josh, Tom C, Mark, Nathan, Elliott and James Dowsett. Freethorpe are pictured proudly wearing their new kit which has been sponsored by Richardsons Holidays and they also have new Xara training/wet jackets supplied by Mr Kelvin Howard, our thanks go to both. Next game at home to Gorleston, kick off at 10.30 am.

MATCH REPORT 23/9/07

Freethorpe U14's got off to a good start in their league campaign with
a 10-1 win over Gorleston FC.  The game started off fast and furious
with chances created at both ends.  Freethorpe eventually got the
breakthrough and after that continued playing in the same way with an
excellent all round performance from all the players.    The score line
was a bit harsh on a good Gorleston side whose players attitudes were a
credit to their club.  Goals were from Nathan, Tom C, Mark, Ashley and
Dan.  Next game is against Costessey Sports at home in the County Cup
kick off at 2.30pm.

MATCH REPORT 30/9/07

Freethorpe progreesed to the next round of the county cup thanks to a well taken N Howard hat trick and a good free kick by Dan and an own goal in a scrappy game hopefully this week we can get back to proper football.

MATCH REPORT 7/10/07

Freethorpe U14's played in a tough game against Shrublands B in the
first round of the cup.  Although Freethorpe won,  this was a game they
could easily have lost.  Freethorpe started well and took the lead via
a goal from Nathan only to then concede a goal from a free kick.  After
this Shrublands spent most of the time in and around  Freethorpe's 18
yard box and could they have been at least 4-1 up at half time.  The
score however remained 1-1 at this point.  At the beginning of the
second half Shrublands deservedly went into a 3-1 lead.  Following this
the game was to completely change.  Thanks to good saves by Ben, a
great goal line clearance by Dan and then a hattrick from Nathan
followed by a good goal from Mark, Freethorpe ended up winning 5-3.
Hopefully this game was a wake up call for all the boys as they have
now used up a huge slice of this seasons' good luck.  Thanks go the the
referee and all the supporters.  Next game at home against Hemsby kick
off 1.30pm.

MATCH REPORT 14/10/07

FREETHORPE U14'S played at home against Hemsby Hornets, with the bare
eleven players for the second time this season and won 4-0.  Hemsby,
however, made Freethorpe work very hard for the points.  Freethorpe
took the lead via Nathan and after this had much of the play.  Hemsby
defended well and continued to be very dangerous on the break.  The
second half was much the same until Freethorpe got their second again
from Nathan.  After this with Hemsby forced to go for goal , Freethorpe
scored two more, one from Sam and Nathan completing his hattrick.  This
was a good and tough game for Freethorpe, and hopefully this is still a
learning curve that they can do well in the league if they continue to
work hard and keep their concentration throughout and also to call more
for the ball!  Next game away to Waveney kick off at 12.30pm.

MATCH REPORT 21/10/07

Playing with 10  this week Freethorpe done well to get a point in a 3-3
draw against Waveney b , with good performances from Ben , Dan Sam and
Natham. The Goals came from Natham 2 and dom 1 , thanks to the boys who
made a special effort to play . It seems a great shame that this league
could b decided on who can get 11 on the pitch the most this season , u
would think people would encourage their kids to play sport rather than
hang about street corners mind u that would mean no lay in on a Sunday!

MATCH REPORT 28/10/07

FREETHORPE U14'S unfortunately went one better than last week and
played with nine instead of ten against league leaders Halesworth.
Despite lack of players they were in with a chance of a point until
Halesworth went 4-2 up with only twenty minutes left.  After this
Freethorpe just decided to concentrate their efforts on going for goal
and ended up losing 10-2.  Both goals came form Nathan the second after
Tom Charles won a penalty.  Despite the scoreline and persistant wind
and rain all nine boys put in a cracking performance.  Freethorpe are
now seeking more players especially a central defender and central
midfielder to help strengthen their squad.  If interested please
telephone Darren on (01493) 700957 or just come to our training
sessions at Freethorpe Playing field on Wednesday evenings at 6.00pm
where you will be most welcome.

MATCH REPORT 4/11/07

FREETHORPE U14's with their players all back from holidays and injuries
had a much better Sunday this week, winning Hempnall 8-1.  Goals came
from Nathan, Sam, Mark and Tom Charles.  Great all round perfromance
from all players with plenty of strong defending.  This week Freethorpe
have a tough game in the cup against Gorleston A.  Kick off at home at
2pm.

MATCH REPORT 11/11/07

FREETHORPE U14's put in an excellent performance against Gorleston
Rangers A to run out 3-1 winners and  proceed to the semi-finals of the
Cup.  Freethorpe began well hitting the post in the first minute
followed up by a goal from Nathan.  After this a defensive mistake gave
Gorlestion their equaliser.  This opened up the game with continued
chances at both ends, with two more goals coming again from Nathan.
Gorleston also hit the post and Ben then pulled off some great saves to
keep the score at 3-1 at half time.  In the second half was much of the
same apart from Ben and Dan hurling themselves at each other resulting
in Dan coming off in a very nasty collision.  Outstanding performances
by all the players with great work effort coming from Sam, Tom Charles
and Elliot with his headers.  This week at home to Shrublands B, kick
off at 10.30am.

MATCH REPORT 18/11/07

Freethorpe U14's played in another game against Shrublands B where
anything could have happened, and with both teams having players
missing.   In the first half and playing against a very strong wind
Freethorpe managed to keep Shrublands out and score but then lost Dan
due to injury and finding themselves down to ten players.  However, in
the second half and with the wind it was a case of the next goal being
all important.  Freethorpe scored early in this half via a good kick
from Nathan to complete his hattrick.  Shrublands now went for goal
leaving themselves open at the back and allowing Sam to get two more
for Freethorpe.  Shrublands got one back after the Freethorpe
goalkeeper unfortunately got a bit too much help in front of goal, when
he already had his hands on the ball.  As always when these two sides
meet, regardless of the score it was a good game and supported in the
right way.  Thanks go to the referee Mike Read.  This week away to
Loddon Grasshoppers.  Kick off is at 11.45am.

MATCH REPORT 16/12/07

FREETHORPE U14'S after a small break due to weather/pitch conditions
were keen to get going again and this showed when they progressed to
the quarter-final of the County Cup after a 4-0 win over Firside.
Though Freethorpe had most of the play, Ben pulled off some good
saves
when needed.  Nathan got a hattrick and Sam was pleased to score
another goal.  Billy played well after coming on for the last 20
minutes in his first appearance for the club.  A good performance
again
from all the boys.  Well done and Merry Christmas.  Please note to
keep
Sunday 30th December free as we should have a rearranged game.
Training will commence on Wednesday 2nd January.

MATCH REPORT 6/1/2008

Freethorpe U14 V Waveney B

The boys got a good start to the new year with 3 points via a 2-1 win
aganist Waveney B. With two goals from N Howard Freethorpe were 2-0 up
and creating lots in the first half however despite playing good
football at times could never find the third goal , the second half
being the same untill the last 15 mins when Waveney pulled a goal back
and then pushed for a second leaving Freethorpe with a nervous last 10
mins. This week we will have to be at out best to stand any chance of
staying in the county cup as we r playing one of the best teams in
Norfolk

MATCH REPORT 20/1/08

Freethorpe U 14 v Thorpe Rovers
Current mood:  blank
Category: Sports

Freethorpe u14 v Thorpe Rovers

Playing in the Q F of the county cup against a Thorpe Rovers side
unbeaten in their own league or cup for over a year was always going to
b a hard task , so to beat them with key players missing and lose
another after 20 mins through injury was nver going to happen.
Freethorpe to their credit naver gave up and realy give it a go but the
result was never in question and was the boys biggest and only defeat
in a long while. Result Thorpe 10 Freethorpe 1 Heads up boys youll
never play no one better in kids football!

MATCH REPORT 27/1/08

Freethorpe U14 v`s Shublands B u1

The boys thought they were in for a easy ride as Shublands only had 9
men and after going 2-0 up after 5 mins they knew this would b the case
, however with the score 4-3 at half time they needed to b told that
the ` let someone else do the hard work` attiude will get u points
against no one. In the second half to their credit they sorted this and
went on to win 10-3 with Natham scoring 8 and goals from Dan and Josh.
Well done to the Shublands boys for giving everthing and never letting
their heads go down.

MATCH REPORT 10/2/08

freethorpe U14 v Gorleston
Current mood:  disappointed
Category: Sports

Freethorpe struggled to beat an improved Gorleston side , and though
they got the points their play was not good and they will have to
improve if they want to continue their good results and try to pass the
ball to someone in a yellow shirt! Freethorpes scorers were N Howard 2
and Da

MATCH REPORT 17/2/08

Frrethorpe u!4`s

After last weeks 3-1 win against a much improved gorleston side this
week Freethorpe put in a very good performance to beat loddon 1-0.
Freethorpe created lots of half chances but took untill the second half
to get the goal their play deserved. This was scored by N Howard
following good work by M Robinson. Well played all in defence first
clean sheet for a while with Ben in goal having little to do.This week
we well have to b at our very best to have a chance in the cup SF v`s
Shublands A

MATCH REPORT 24/2/08

Freethorpe u14

Freethorpe got probally their best result ever to get to the final of
the cup with a 3-0 win over Shublands A. In a scrappy game where in all
fairness Shublands were not at their best all the Freethorpe players
worked their socks off.. Freethorpes first came from a great effot by
Tom Charles well into the first half and Natham added 2 more in the
second. Their were a few more half chances in the game which both sides
missed though with the wind playing its part the ball was always
swirling around making it hard for the forwards. Thanks to ref  D.
Wright and Shublands for a fantasic attitude unlike our last cup game.

 MATCH REPORT 2/3/08

Freethorpe U14 v Hempnall

In a game spoilt by the wind Freethorpe got another 3 points against a
determined Hempnall who took an early lead and kept it for most of the
first half. Once Freethorpe found a way through, the goals came from
around the team with Perry getting his first for the team Sam 2, Mark1
and Nathan scoring his 50 and 51st of the season. At last we are now
getting a good squad together and at long last playing with only 11 or
worse looks a thing of the past. For those of you who know the team
could you ever imagine playing a game with Tom C, Dominic and Nathan
all on the sideline together. However we can't be complacent boys,
there's a long way still to go yet.

MATCH REPORT 9/3/08

freethorpe u 14`s vs Hemsby

This week the boys used up a good slice of this seasons luck with
their goal leading a charmed. life. Having gone a goal down for the
second week running Freethorpe done their best to give Hemsby some more
but they declined to take them. By the end of a game it probally should
have been about 15-10 to Hemsby , as it was Freethorpe manged to take a
few more of their chances to win 3-1 with goals from Nathan Tom C and a
first for Tyler.

MATCH REPORT 23/3/08

Freethorpe u14s v Gorleston FC
Current mood:  relieved
Category: Sports

With the holiday season upon us Freethorpe had a bare 11 out of their
17 man squad this week to play Gorleston in a game played in cold
conditions with snow throughout meaning this weeks game would b more a
battle against the cold than anything else. Playing with the snow in
the first half Freethorpe created a few good chances but only took one
via N Howard with Gorleston scoring right on the half time whistle.
Things got even worse for Freethorpe as they lost a player at half time
maening they would b playing the whole of the second half with ten men
and playing into the snow. Gorleston started the second half on top but
failed to take their chances and Freethorpe took the lead from a great
free kick from Nathan following good work from M Robinson. This settled
Freethorpe down a bit and they secured the game following a goal from
Dan after he switched places with Nathan.Well done to all the boys from
both sides who all played their part in a very good game considering
the conditions with some good football played at times. Thanks to
Gorleston for the Easter treats.

Freethorpe FC U14

Match Report 30/3/2008

Cup Final

Playing in the final against a good Gorleston side the game started
with Freethorpe defending their 18 yard box and playing on the break
and this continued for most of the game. Freethorpe took the lead
early
on with a well taken goal from N Howard following a ball from Dan.
After this Freethorpe had a couple of more chances on the break but
failed to take them. Gorleston then scored a very good goal and
nearly
got another . Early in the second half Freethorpe gifted Gorleston
their second and winning goal. Whilst Gorleston still had most of the
play Freethorpe probally had more chances and  had a strong penalty
claim near the end given by the linesman but not the ref.Well done to
Gorleston who played the better football pinning Freethorpe back for
long periods of the game. Thanks to all for the day and special
thanks
to the physio

MATCH REPORT 6/4/2008

Freethorpe u14 v Hempnall

With players back from their hols Freethorpe played some fantasic
football created at least 10 good chances but  some how were 3-1 down
at half-time. Their was nothing that could be said at half time other
than dont panic and keep playing the same. Thankfully the boys did this
and scored 5 in the second half to win the game 6-3. Thanks to Hempnall
for their part in a fantasic game of football  , their keeper could and
should be playing in adult football. Freethorpes goals came from N
Howard 2  , S Colman 2 ,  Dan and Mark. A hard game expected this week
away to Hemsby ( to be played at Filby 10.30 KO) so more of the same
please without the misses!

MATCH REPORT 13/4/08

Freethorpe Under 14`s

Freethorpe had to come from behind twice to gain a point away at
Hemsby which secures the boys a top three finsh with 5 games still to
go.This is a fantasic achivement by the boys and second place is within
reach but only if we are at our very very best for the last 5 games.
Freethorpe goals game from J Dent and N Howard.

MATCH REPORT 20/4/08

Freethorpe lost their long unbeaten league run of 30 games (apart from
one they played with 9 men) in a 2-0 defeat against a vg halesworth
side. In a very tight first half Halesworth were just the better side
but the score remained 0-0 though both sides played some very good
football mixed with tough takles from both sides. Halesworth got an
early lead in the second half and Freethorpe never realy recovered and
lost a second soon after. After this the game opened up a little bit
but Freethorpe could not take the couple of good chances they had and 2-
0 was a fair result. We look foward to hopefully another good game in
the rematch in a couple of weeks time.

MATCH REPORT 27/4/08

Freethorpe Under 14
Playing a depleted Waverby B side Freethorpe went on a goal frency and
got a record 21-1 score. It seems a great shame that so many clubs r
struggling to field full teams though to still b playing this late in
the year does not help. Well done to Waveney who were a credit to their
club

MATCH REPORT 4/5/2008

Freethorpe U14

Freethorpe had another epic encounter with Shublands B in a game that
had everthing apart from two defences. M Robinson opened the scoring
for Freethorpe almost from the kick off and Shublands scored soon after
, Josh scored for Freethorpe and Shublands scored soon after, M
Robinson got his second and guess what Shublands scored soon after
hence HT 3-3. Into the second half and Nathan scored to put Freethorpe
4-3 up and then Freethorpe scored another via a bullet like header from
Dominic that went over the line at all of 1mph. At last Freethorpe
looked as if they were on their way and guess what Shublands scored
again just to make Freethorpe sweat a bit more thankfully however Joe
then scored near the end to make it 6-4. Great game , great spectaters ,
great ref ,great players from 2 great clubs..i could go on

MATCH REPORTS LAST TWO GAMES

Freethorpe U14

In a midweek game Freethorpe can count themselfs very unlucky not to
have become the first team to take a point or more off Halesworth this
season. Having nearly took the lead and missed 2 other good chances
Freethorpe gifted Halesworth two goals two trail 2-0 at HT. In the
second half both sides had chances but missed before Freethorpe pulled
one back via Dan and then had a couple more chances and hit the bar
late in the second half. Well done boys a good performance and well
done Halesworth for going through the season unbeaten in the league.

Following the good performance in midweek this game which had second
place riding on it looked more like the bottom two playing. Loddon only
had ten and Freethorpe 3 missing who would have started. What resulted
was a scrappy game with a couple of very good goals no defences and a 7-
4 win to Freethorpe. Freethorpes scorers Tom C  two for Dan and four
for Nathan to bring his tally this season to 69. Well done to all the
boys 2nd in the league and cup and QF in the county cup is a very good
effort and now at last i can have a rest!
